Southern Nevada Soccer Association was founded in 1998 when Green Valley and Black Mountain Soccer Clubs merged to form the Henderson United Youth Soccer (HUYS) Club. HUYs attained league status in 2001 to provide recreational youth soccer services to Southern Nevada youth.
In 2007 the organization was renamed Southern Nevada Soccer Association to better reflect the geographical areas we serve and the expansion of services that include the Heat FC competitive soccer program and the SNSA adult soccer program. SNSA has over 6,500 participants annually in our recreational, competitive and adult soccer programs.
SNSA is affiliated with Soccer Association for Youth, U.S.A. (SAY) for our recreational programs, and with United States Youth Soccer (USYSA) and US Club Soccer for our competitive programs. Through the aforementioned affiliations, SNSA is a member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the governing body of soccer in the United States.
Henderson United Youth Soccer (HUYS) and Southern Highlands United Youth Soccer (SHU) are SNSA recreational programs that follow the United States Soccer Federation guidelines for player development. We use the following small-sided play formats to maximize player participation, success, and technical growth:
U5-U6 Divisions: 3v3 format (no keeper)
U7-U8 Divisions: 4v4 format (no keeper)
U9-U10 Divisions: 5v5 format (includes keeper)
U11-U12 Divisions: 8v8 format (includes keeper)
U13-U17 Divisions: 11v11 (includes keeper)
HUYS and SHU offer BOYS divisions, which consist of all boys and coed teams, and ALL-GIRLS divisions, which consist of all girls teams.
The SNSA competitive program is Heat FC, a club that competes against the top teams in Southern Nevada and in the west region. Heat FC features U11-U18 boys’ teams competing in the Elite Soccer League of Nevada. Heat FC also offers Heat Select teams in the U8, U9 and U10 age divisions for players transitioning from recreational to competitive soccer. Heat FC is affiliated with the US Youth Soccer Association and US Club Soccer. For more information, visit the HeatFC website at www.heatfcnevada.com.
All recreational coaches are volunteers. Level 1 and Level 2 coach training is provided and paid for by SNSA. The Heat FC coaching staff conducts a Coach Academy topic training class to help prepare coaches for advanced state and national licensing courses.
The SNSA Player Technical Training program (PTT) is offered to registered U5-U10 players at no additional cost. PTT consists of four weekly training sessions conducted by the Heat FC coaching staff that focus on the development of a player’s technical soccer skills. We offer goalkeeper training for our U9-U15 players. We also operate the Heat Sparks Academy, an advanced technical training program for U7-U10 players and U9-U15 goalkeepers that are interested in playing competitive soccer. SNSA offers additional training camps
during the off-season for players of all ages and skill levels.
