SPRING 2024 COACH TRAINING

Thank you for registering to coach with Southern Nevada Soccer Association!  Our coaches are the life-blood of the organization, and we are committed to providing quality training to all of our registered coaches – no experience is necessary!  We offer an SNSA Coach Clinic with a classroom component and a field training component to all SNSA coaches.  We also offer a goalkeeper training for coaches clinic for our U9-U14 coaches. All SNSA coach clinics are free of charge to registered SNSA coaches. Our Spring 2024 pre-season coach event and training schedule will be posted in late July.

YOUTH LEAGUE TEAM STAFF REGISTRATION

Southern Nevada Soccer Association's  next youth league season is Spring 2024, for which league play starts in March and registration opens in mid-December. The fall season offers league play through our Henderson United (HUYS) and Southern Highlands United (SHU) programs for players born 8/1/2009 - 7/31/2019 and our SNSA Mini Kickers program for players born 8/1/2019 - 7/31/2020.

Anyone volunteering as a team official, whether as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Manager is required to register with SNSA and complete Safesport Abuse Prevention training and Concussion training. Registered team officials are insured by our national affiliate, Soccer Association for Youth.  Registration is easy, and best of all, it's free! SNSA TEAM STAFF POSITIONS

SNSA's youth recreational league relies on parent volunteers to serve in team staff positions. Each SNSA team is required to have a Head Coach; Assistant Coach and Team Manager are optional positions, but we encourage all of our teams to have multiple staff volunteers to support the team. The following is a brief summary of SNSA team staff positions:

HEAD COACH - The Head Coach is the controlling authority of the team, and is responsible for training and tactical game management. The Head Coach determines the practice schedule and location for the team.  All SNSA teams are required to have a Head Coach.

ASSISTANT COACH - The Assistant Coach helps the Head Coach with training and game management as needed, and serves as acting Head Coach when the Head Coach is not available. SNSA teams are not required to have an Assistant Coach.

TEAM MANAGER - The Team Manager is responsible for team administration and communications.  Team managers also help organize optional team functions, including trophies/award, team photos, team parties and post-game snacks! SNSA teams are not required to have a Team Manager.

All team staff members are required to have current SafeSport Abuse & Prevention Training and CDC Concussion Training certifications and to pass a background screening. SNSA issues a Staff ID Card to certified team staff members, which authorizes the staff member to access the team's technical area along the sideline.

Note that all team staff members are volunteers, and may not charge fees for serving as a team staff member on an SNSA youth recreational league team.

Team photos, awards, parties? Call a Preferred Vendor!

The SNSA Preferred Vendor Program connects HUYS and SHU teams with providers of team photography, awards and team parties. While these items are optional, many teams choose to have team photos taken, purchase awards for team members, or have a team party at the end of the season.  A packet of SNSA preferred vendors and their product offerings for the current season is included in the team packet distributed to all teams prior to the start of the season. Teams are not required to use an SNSA preferred vendor, but these businesses sponsor and support SNSA, so we encourage you to use them for your team photo, awards and party needs!  Click on the links below for a list of preferred vendors for the Fall 2023 season.

What Is Your Coaching Philosophy?

It can be challenging being a coach. You are constantly being asked to make decisions which impact not only yourself but also your athletes and your team. You need to find a balance between player development and winning, and you need to meet the needs of your athletes. Doing these effectively, in a consistent manner requires that you are clear on your coaching philosophy.  A coaching philosophy is a statement of what you value and how you will approach your coaching role. It covers your purpose as a coach and how you will approach player development and winning. Your coaching philosophy consists of your major objectives, beliefs and principles that you adhere to in order to achieve your objectives.  By taking the time to clarify and communicate your philosophy, and then following through with it, you will be a more effective coach.  Click on the following for help with creating your own personal coaching philosophy:
