Southern Nevada Soccer Association's next youth league season is Spring 2026, for which league play starts in March and registration opens in mid-December. The spring season offers league play through our Henderson United (HUYS) and Southern Highlands United (SHU) programs for players born 6/1/2011 - 7/31/2021 and our SNSA Mini Kickers program for players born 8/1/2021 - 10/31/2022.
Anyone volunteering as a team official, whether as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Manager is required to register with SNSA and complete Safesport Abuse Prevention training and concussion training. Registered team officials are insured by our national affiliate, Soccer Association for Youth. Registration is easy, and best of all, it's free! SNSA's youth recreational league relies on parent volunteers to serve in team staff positions. Each SNSA team is required to have a Head Coach; Assistant Coach and Team Manager are optional positions, but we encourage all of our teams to have multiple staff volunteers to support the team. The following is a brief summary of SNSA team staff positions:
HEAD COACH - The Head Coach is the controlling authority of the team, and is responsible for training and tactical game management. The Head Coach determines the practice schedule and location for the team. All SNSA teams are required to have a Head Coach.
ASSISTANT COACH - The Assistant Coach helps the Head Coach with training and game management as needed, and serves as acting Head Coach when the Head Coach is not available. SNSA teams are not required to have an Assistant Coach.
TEAM MANAGER - The Team Manager is responsible for team administration and communications. Team managers also help organize optional team functions, including trophies/award, team photos, team parties and post-game snacks! SNSA teams are not required to have a Team Manager.
All team staff members are required to have current SafeSport Abuse & Prevention Training and CDC Concussion Training certifications and to pass a background screening. SNSA issues a Staff ID Card to certified team staff members, which authorizes the staff member to access the team's technical area along the sideline.
Note that all team staff members are volunteers, and may not charge fees for serving as a team staff member on an SNSA youth recreational league team.
Team photos, player awards and team parties are time-honored traditions in youth sports! If you are interested in having professional team photos, purchasing awards for your players or planning a team party, click the link below for a list of local providers. Team photos, awards and parties are optional and are not included in the SNSA registration fee; parents can decide whether or not to participate.
SNSA provides a list of providers but is not involved in the scheduling, purchase, or distribution of these products & services. Once you have selected a provider, please direct all inquiries to the provider’s contact.

It can be challenging being a coach. You are constantly being asked to make decisions which impact not only yourself but also your athletes and your team. You need to find a balance between player development and winning, and you need to meet the needs of your athletes. Doing these effectively, in a consistent manner requires that you are clear on your coaching philosophy. A coaching philosophy is a statement of what you value and how you will approach your coaching role. It covers your purpose as a coach and how you will approach player development and winning. Your coaching philosophy consists of your major objectives, beliefs and principles that you adhere to in order to achieve your objectives. By taking the time to clarify and communicate your philosophy, and then following through with it, you will be a more effective coach.
